Sim Room

Sunlit lounge with two camel boucle sofas, gingham wingback chairs, a herringbone tile floor, and windows on three sides

Before
Covered upper patio

A patio, brought
indoors.

An upper covered patio had the best light in the house and nothing to do with it. Enclosing it turned an afterthought into a room people actually gather in: a golf simulator at one end, a lounge at the other, and windows on three sides that keep the desert glow. A plank-clad ceiling, herringbone tile, and boucle seating give the space the same warmth as the rest of the home, so the simulator reads as a guest rather than the point.

The reason for the room

Built for the swing,
dressed for the evening.

The simulator sits in its own dark bay so the screen stays bright and the rest of the room stays soft. Turn around and it disappears behind sofas and lamplight.

The quiet corner

Books, a stem in water, the throw within reach. A room built for a game still ends with somewhere to sit still.
